In 1990, ECD Germany was founded, at that time still under the name Eris Car Design GmbH. Here, Eris stands for European Wheel Arch Chrome & Interior Service and describes the company’s initial sales division. The company exclusively offered chrome parts and wooden interiors for car tuning. Marketing was carried out in the traditional manner via catalogues, advertisements and leaflets, and sales took place largely locally – as was customary at the time.
At that time, well-known trade fairs such as the Essen Motor Show and Automechanika in Frankfurt were a key part of the company’s strategy for attracting new customers.
This specialised range meant that the customer base was no longer limited to the local area; the company now had customers across Europe. Consequently, sales had to adapt, and the focus shifted towards mail order.
It was now possible to reach more buyers in less time, and with the advent of mass internet access, entirely new opportunities opened up. Online marketplaces and auction houses took on a whole new significance and suddenly offered the possibility of selling goods easily via various channels simultaneously. This led to a shift in the focus of sales. Chrome and wood now gave way to easy-to-sell automotive spare parts.
In 2010, the decision was taken to relaunch the company under the name ECD-Germany. This marked the start of our rapidly expanding e-commerce division.
Today, ECD Germany stands for a strong company characterised by continuous development. We are represented in over 12 countries and are constantly growing. This is ensured not only by the regular expansion of our product range, but also by the professional expertise and commitment of our various departments and their staff both at home and abroad.
